So my new notebook is in the mail, and it’s a dream, a dream I say:
Dell Inspiron 6000
15.4 Inch UltraSharp WUSXGA display, 1700×1200 pixels (or something crazy like that)
100 GB HD
1 GB ram
128mb Video
Dvd Burner
Wireless A/B/G
Bluetooth
pretty much, a dream.
Now I’m having an ordeal wiht my new mp3 player purchase. I can’t decide if I should give in and go Pod, or stay ‘faux-pod’. I always wanted the accessories, but I also really enjoy the extended battery life offered by other products. The Nano is sexy, but 4 GB isn’t enough for me.
Another, less-possible, idea is to get a Sony PSP. I’ve been downloading so much video-content lately that it’d be nice to have that on me when I travel… but alas, with my new laptop (which is coming with a spare battery btw) the train rides are pretty much covered. So this is a less likely option.
So, as usual, I’ll have to deliberate tons before making a decision. Most mp3 players in Korea are flash based, and small enough to hang around your neck. Most phones have mp3 players and most Koreans have (surprisingly) never heard of ‘iPod’. So any purchase I do make will probably be ordered from back home, which is peculiar, being in a country that is leader in technology. It’s just not the technology that I like I guess.
This just in: (thanks Eric)
I think I found my player: iAudio X5
Noteable Features:
- Video playback in MPEG-4: Which will be perfect when I get my ideal camera, the Casio Exilim S600 which records unlimited length video (governed by the memory card side obviously) in Mpeg4 format.
- Colour screen with Photo viewing
- Plug and Play: which means I don’t need to install any drivers when connecting to other computers.
- Plays the newer FLAC codec which is lossless. Also plays .ogg which is also great.
- Uses m3u playlists that I make in Winamp.
- USB-HOST-On-thego (USB-OTG) means I can connect to (compatible) USB devices, like a digital camera, view them, and download them onto the player.
- Text-view: perfect for books I download to read while listening
And so on and so forth. This weekend I’m heading to Seoul for new years, and if they have it in Yongsan, which is a world famous electronics market, one of the biggest in Asia, I’m gonna grab it. Man, oh man.
